Here's the postcard artwork. The idea is
for an individual to adopt their street, or
an area of the town. S/he then uses the
postcards to invite neighbours and friends
to join them in keeping the adopted street
or area clean long term. The postcard can
be put through neighbours' letterboxes or
used face-to-face. We have 4 adopted
streets to date.
The aim is to: promote pride in the
neighbourhood and in Exmouth in
general; promote recycling; deter littering
(the presence of litter suggests that it is
OK to drop litter); improve behaviour
(crime and vandalism rises when streets
are littered); build community; promote
Transition Exmouth and increase
membership.
If you adopt a street you will be provided
with enough postcards for your area (or,
so I don't carry all the expense, you can
print your own onto thin card and cut to
size-- I used Copyrite on Victoria Road--
black ink only--for this and used a
trimmer).
There is a Clean Street Exmouth group
page on Facebook which will show
developments and promote discussion.
